Welcome to my Journey.
A very warm welcome to Marland Studio, my new website and my blog! As you’ve probably seen if you have already had a browse through the other pages of my website, I have had an affinity with photography for many years. I am certainly not the best photographer in the world as you will undoubtedly come across many Instagram accounts with absolutely stunning imagery from every environment around the globe and on a plethora of subjects. But, for me it gives me enormous pleasure to take images and to share them because as the saying goes ‘sharing is caring’ after-all. I hope to give you my perspective on the world which you will also find is quite an eclectic mix of subjects and themes, as I don’t like to ‘specialise’ or focus on one subject matter. You’ll find a bit of portraiture, landscape, urban, architectural, astro and it wouldn’t be me without a few trains, planes and boats!

But, for me, it isn’t simply about what the image looks like. Images need to have some meaning and everything has a story to tell. When I’m not out and about with my camera, you’ll usually find me on the sets of television drama. This has been my career since I graduated from university and I have been fortunate enough to have have played a small part in bringing some of your favourite drama to the screen. This is a world built around story-telling, where everything is designed from the ground up to help tell a certain narrative, portray a certain feeling or emotion. This is something I have brought into my photography and I hope, with this blog, I can better share these stories of the places I visit and the subjects I take photographs of.
St. Anthony Lighthouse, Cornwall
Britain is full of interesting places with stories to tell. We have the history (bucket loads of it). We have the variety. We have the beauty. We have the weather (and by this I mean; who knows what mother nature will throw at you)! Each part of the UK has its own microcosm of interesting narrative and visuals that is usually not as far away as you think and photography is a great excuse to get out there and see it. I cordially invite you to follow this continuing journey with me as we explore this world, one frame at a time. In May, I’ll be heading back to one of my favourite corners of the country, Cornwall. A place steeped in history and beauty from every angle and in July, we’re flying off to Spain to soak up some Spanish sun and experience a different world.
All of my images are first published on my Instagram account, @marlandstudio, before I shall update you here with more, as soon as I am able. Welcome to this new chapter! Let’s get out there and explore!
